How do we eliminate stress, hustle, dysfunction and fatigue from the holidays?
How do we put Christ back into Christmas? Here are some tips that may help:
- Stay at a hotel, or offer to help loved one visiting find a hotel nearby.
- Name drawing eliminates having to gift everyone.
- Leave the following toxins alone: (all cause inflammation and aching
- Alcoho
- Nicotine
- Sugar
- Flour
- Trans-fats
- Salt
- Red-meat
- Make to-do lists.
- Take vegetable dishes where you go or set out vegetable trays to nibble on.
- Know what you are eating and keep a written track of it.
- Don’t drop your fitness routine – exercise for no less than 30 minutes each day.
- Stick to a budget and give less (less truly is more). Don’t go into debt.
- If you are having guests over have them bring a dish to pass.
- Seek harmony and peace, use music therapy.
- Say “no” to some of the invitations.
- Look for the gratitude’s each day. Keep a gratitude journal.
- When you shop, make it a plan to smile and be patient more. J
- Use slow cookers.
- Say “I don’t,” not “I can’t,” when offered alcohol, sugar, or flour items.
- Breathe!
- Get enough sleep and rest.
- Wear comfortable shoes.
- Move away from the food and alcohol.
- Unplug one day a week: no TV, i-Phone, i-Pad, or any technology.
- Force yourself to slow down.
- Play uplifting Christ centered Christmas carols. Sing with the music!
- Display nativity scenes, big, small, all sizes everywhere!
- Display Christian Christmas ornaments.
- Read the nativity story from St. Matthew (1:18 – 2:12) or St. Luke (2:1-21)
- Attend church and invite someone.
- DO use the greeting “Merry Christmas” with a smile.
- Set a plate at the table for Christ and have a birthday cake for Him. Sing “Happy Birthday” to Him.
